City Rising

A documentary series that examines social justice issues affecting California communities. The program illuminates the journey of California’s neighborhoods advocating for policy change to improve upward mobility for their communities.

We produced three documentaries focused on social issues in California, exploring gentrification and housing rights, the informal economy, youth advocacy and civic participation. I was a lead producer on the series, including research, editorial, and community outreach.

I also managed supporting digital content, including social media videos and commissioned articles through scholars, community leaders, and journalists; organized screenings across California; and provided reports to the funder.

The series was distributed and broadcast by over 90% of PBS stations.

Digital episode 1 of 6, of City Rising
The series provided micro grants to be screened by dozens of organizations in California but organizations across the country from Anchorage to Atlanta, also screened the series using our popular education materials.
